Greetings from the Northeast Startup Festival!

The Northeast Startup Festival is a programme aimed towards bringing together the various sectors of the startup ecosystem across the Northeast, in the form of hackathons, business summits, startup conclaves, investor conclaves and various other competitions in the startup zone. The Northeast Startup Festival is a concept created by StartupAssam after the subsequent activities of startups in Assam and research in the field of organizing business plan competitions and Hackathon by Assam Hackathon in October 2018 and the Northeast Hackathon in September 2019 under TEQIP III, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India of Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati.

StartupAssam is a registered society under Societies Act (Registration No: RS/KAM (M)/263/Q/234). It was started in January 2015 by a few entrepreneurs of the region, working towards the development of the Startup Ecosystem in Northeast India. StartupAssam has also organized around 30 programmes on monthly basis – aptly named the Startup Saturday Guwahati Talks. This entity has conducted three Business Plan competitions (2016 to 2018), mentored around 25 startups in the area, and held 7 Startup Training workshops, with more than 100 members in the society. StartupAssam also organized the Assam Hackathon in October 2018 with Assam Science and Technology University. This was followed by Northeast Hackathon , which saw participation of over 350 colleges from across Northeast India. Founded and mentored by professionals, StartupAssam has been working towards this cause since the last 7 years and has also been successful in touching the lives of hundreds of promising youths.

The Northeast Startup Festival is a startup event that will accelerate the trade and commerce of Northeast India with South East Asian countries. The concept of this Northeast Startup Festival is to bring about socio, cultural and economic exchanges across the South East Asian countries, with India, through the Northeastern states.

Vision: To work on developing the startup ecosystem of Northeast India through collaboration with the South East Asian countries.

Mission: To work on different problem statements of the State by promoting problem-solving startups of the state.

The Northeast Startup Festival 2022 was organized by Redlemon Technologies & StartupAssam in association with GPlus. The event was supported by IIM Calcutta innovation Park as an ecosystem partner, Indian institute of Entrepreneurship, as a hosting partner for the programme. The following were the specific roles for the stakeholders:

1. Government of Assam supported the Northeast Startup Festival in achieving its vision of setting up Guwahati as a startup capital of South East Asia.
2. Event was be managed by Redlemon Technologies & StartupAssam.
3. Gplus was an associate partner to the festival providing advertising credits to the winning startups of Northeast Hackathon and the Startup Pitching.
4. IIM CIP acted as an ecosystem partner providing a workshop and an acceleration programme to the winning startups.
5. The event was supported by a few organizations from corporate and public sector undertakings.
